Islamic Law in the Afghan Legal Order and Implications for National Legislation: Workshop in Kabul

which are responsible for drafting and reviewing new laws by offering training measures in order to enhance their ability to write and develop coherent and executable laws that conform to the Constitution, as well as to other legal laws.

The workshop shall provide participants with a basic overview of the rank and role of Islamic Law in the Afghan legal order. Particular emphasis of the training should thus be placed on Art. 3 of the Afghan Constitution as the central provision in this regard. Furthermore, the participants shall learn about how to deal with conflicts between Islamic Law and other legal systems and methods of interpretation of Islamic Law when drafting or reviewing legislation and its significance for the legislation.
