Max Planck Directors Meet Vice President of Afghanistan

Delegation from Heidelberg offers advice in constitutional matters to Afghan Government and Parliament

On 30 November 2014, two directors of the Max Planck Foundation, Professor Dr. Rüdiger Wolfrum and Dr. Tilmann Röder, met His Excellency the Vice President of Afghanistan, Sarwar Danish, for a talk about current constitutional matters. They were accompanied by German Ambassador Dr. Markus Potzel, the renowned scholar of Islamic and constitutional law Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali and the Head of the foundation’s implementation partner in Kabul. Mr. Danish, an academic himself, who has recently published a book about the Afghan constitution, visited the Max Planck Foundation for a seminar in 2012.

The Max Planck delegation also met the Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi, the First Deputy Speaker of the Meshrano Jirga, Mohammad Halam Ezedyar, the Acting Minister of Justice Sayed Yousuf Halim and the Acting Head of the Independent Commission for Overseeing the Implementation of the Constitution, Lutforrahman Saeed.
