The Foundation and ALRDO sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the AWJA

The Foundation and its Afghan counterpart continue their cooperation with the Afghan Women Judges Association (AWJA)

The Foundation and its Afghan counterpart, the Afghan Legal Research Development Organisation (ALRDO) renewed their cooperation with the Afghan Women Judges Association (AWJA) by signing the Memorandum of Understanding on 23 February 2020.

The agreement visualises cooperation between the three institutions, within the framework of the project “The Afghan Women Judges Association: empowerment through capacity-building, partnership and advocacy” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. This cooperation is geared towards the empowerment of AWJA to advance the representation, the role and effectiveness of female judges in Afghanistan. The activities envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding are specifically aimed towards strengthening AWJA as a collective body to adopt a realistic, culturally appropriate and time-bound roadmap including a strategic vision and a detailed action plan for the consolidation of the association.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Judge Nafisa Kabuli on behalf of AWJA, Saeed Lutforahman on behalf of ALRDO and by the Foundation’s Country Manager for Afghanistan.
