The Foundation and ALRDO sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Supreme Court of Afghanistan

The Foundation and its Afghan counterpart begin a cooperation with the Supreme Court of Afghanistan.

The Foundation and its Afghan counterpart, the Afghan Legal Research Development Organisation (ALRDO), entered into an agreement with the Supreme Court of Afghanistan by signing the Memorandum of Understanding on 23 February 2020. The agreement foresees cooperation between the three institutions within the framework of the project “The Afghan Women Judges Association: empowerment through capacity-building, partnership and advocacy” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. This cooperation is specifically geared towards developing capacities of female judges to consider and apply constitutional rights, including fundamental rights and freedoms, in cases under their consideration. If conditions allow, two workshops will be conducted in each of the three chosen locations, namely Kabul, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif. The schedule and substance of the seminars will be jointly discussed and prepared by the Foundation and ALRDO together with the Judicial Training Department of the Supreme Court.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Judge Jawid Rasheedi on behalf of Supreme Court of Afghanistan, Saeed Lutforahman on behalf of ALRDO and by Wolf Plesmann, the Head of Afghanistan Projects, on behalf of the Foundation.
