On 4 February 2021, representatives from the Max Planck Foundation attended a meeting with the Interim Chairperson of the Revitalised Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC), Maj. Gen. Charles Tai Gituai, and other representatives of the RJMEC in Juba, South Sudan.
The meeting followed a series of Sensitisation Meetings conducted together with the RJMEC in South Sudan, which aimed at starting consultations on the open questions for the constitutional process design in South Sudan. These Sensitisation Meetings will culminate in a Workshop on the Constitution-making Process in South Sudan as foreseen under Article 6.7 of the 2018 Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan.
During the meeting at the RJMEC Headquarters in Juba, South Sudan, the Foundation Head of Projects and Country Manager discussed with Interim Chairperson and representatives of RJMEC the plans to conduct the Workshop.
The Foundation’s activities in preparation for the Workshop on the Constitution-making Process in South Sudan are conducted within the framework of the German Federal Foreign Office-funded project “Support to the Constitutional Process in South Sudan“.
