Overview
Armenia, a landlocked country in the Caucasus region, has faced numerous challenges since gaining independence in 1991, among them territorial disputes, military conflicts, as well as socio-economic and political challenges amidst high rates of emigration. Most recently, the country suffered from the repercussions surrounding the long-standing conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
The political landscape in Armenia is marked by a struggle for stability and governance reforms, with ongoing tensions influencing both domestic policies and international relations. Economic hardships and political uncertainties have further complicated the nation’s path to development.
The Armenian government has been working to navigate these challenges, and efforts to foster closer ties with the European Union and other international partners reflect Armenia’s strategic priorities. However, societal divisions and the impact of recent conflicts have left many citizens, particularly the youth, disillusioned and considering emigration as a viable option for a better future.
With its engagement in Armenia, the Foundation focuses on fostering dialogue among young people with the aim of engaging the youth to find inspiration and meaning in building their country’s future on values and visions that they support.
