Second workshop held in Vanadzor, Lori
On 25 August, the Caucasus Institute in partnership with the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law held the second workshop under the auspices of the project ‘Popular Participation in Legislation in Armenia‘, which is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. This workshop was held in Vanadzor, Lori region.
The facilitators commenced the workshop by drawing the participants’ attention towards the function of civil society organizations (CSOs) in public and civic life, and their role in advocacy and legislation. They spoke about the environment in which CSOs operate in Armenia, emphasizing their potential to influence policy and decision-making with specific examples. The experts also shared some effective strategies to help CSOs engage in legislation more meaningfully and withstand common challenges, referring to success stories from other countries.
The participants were provided space for collaboration allowing them to discuss their experiences in groups and to work together to develop sample initiatives or advocacy plans.
The groups received expert feedback on their initiatives and plans. Having received feedback, each group will refine these and present them during the final conference in Yerevan later this year.
