Final workshop exploring strategies for strengthening Armenian civil society organisations’ engagement in the legislative process

Third workshop held in Yerevan.

On 24 October, the Caucasus Institute in partnership with the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law held the third workshop under the auspices of the project ‘Popular Participation in Legislation in Armenia‘, which is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The workshop took place in Yerevan, bringing together local civil society organisations civil society organisations from various areas of operation.

The workshop highlighted the crucial role of civil society organisations in influencing public life, particularly in advocacy and legislation. It explored the environment in which they operate, focusing on their ability to shape policy and decision-making, including practical examples from Armenia. The discussion also covered strategies for civil society organisations to engage more effectively in the legislative process and offered both insights into overcoming common challenges and lessons from successful international experiences.

The participants were given the opportunity to collaborate through group activities focused on creating draft proposals or advocacy plans that the civil society organisations can implement collectively.

After receiving expert input, each team will revise their proposed initiatives and present the updated versions at the final conference later this year.

The third workshop of the project prompted local civil society organisations in Yerevan to critically reassess their advocacy strategies, explore innovative avenues for collaboration, and examine potential opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of their impact.
