Relaunch of “Discussion Group on Law and Development”, 24 April 2014

Joint initiative of the Max Planck Foundation and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law

The launch of this discussion group is a joint endeavour by a team of researchers from the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. Next to discussing selected texts, its speakers were invited to present on different issues related to a broad range of questions of law and development. Meetings will be held on a regular basis.

The first meeting took place on 24 April 2014 at the premises of the Max Planck Foundation. At this initial meeting, Dr. Golnoosh Hakimdavar gave a short presentation based on David M. Trubek’s (University of Wisconsin) and Alvaro Santos’ (Georgetown University Law Center) book “The New Law and Economic Development: A Critical Appraisal”.

The organising team consists of Dr. Adem Abebe, Dr. Golnoosh Hakimdavar, Siraj Khan, Adele Kirschner, Faten Plassmann and Dr. Mindia Vashakmadze from the Max Planck Foundation and Franz Ebert from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.
