Representatives of the Max Planck Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Constitutional Court in Bamako
On 21 February 2017, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Mali and the Max Planck Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding, which established a mutual agenda of cooperation aimed at enhancing the capacities of the Court on specific issues of international and comparative public law. The project runs over a period of eighteen months and includes various capacity building and advisory activities. During the ceremony, the Max Planck Foundation’s representative also handed over a collection of almost two hundred comparative law publications to the President of the Constitutional Court that were generously funded by the German Foreign Office and will complement the Constitutional Court’s library.
In addition to that the Max Planck Foundation also met with the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralisation and State reform, Mohamed Ag Erlaf. On this occasion, the Foundation handed over another set of publications to facilitate the work of the Committee of Experts, which is charged with preparing the amendments to the country’s constitution, a process that forms an integral part of the implementation of the 2015 Peace Accord in Mali.
