Training for Pakistani Lawyers

Refugee Law and Human Rights

In cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Max Planck Foundation and Community for Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) delivered two workshops from 3 to 10 May 2017 for Pakistani lawyers on refugee and human rights law. The workshops aimed to strengthen the participants’ expertise in the relevant national and international law.

An expert from the Max Planck Foundation addressed topics of international law, including sources of international law, and in-depth overview of the relevant international human rights law applicable to non-citizens in Pakistan. This was complimented by an expert from CAMP, who addressed relevant national law provisions and international refugee law topics with the participants.

The workshops were structured in an interactive format with group work, presentations and mock trials to facilitate collaborative learning. This format encouraged the participants to reflect on how their increased knowledge could be integrated into their daily work and ultimately to support refugees in Pakistan.
