Korean Women’s Development Institute (KWDI) and the Foundation sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a result of the exceptional cooperation between the Max Planck Foundation and the KWDI on the 2016 Cambodia Project entitled “Awareness Raising and Capacity Building on International Treaty Obligations in Cambodia with a Specific Focus on Human Rights”.
In the course of the project, experts from the KWDI were invited to participate as lecturers in workshops in order to provide insightful information concerning the implementation of women’s rights in Korea. The Foundation and the KWDI share the common goals of enriching research and providing concrete support for partner countries in the area of Human Rights, especially women’s rights and gender equality in the case of the KWDI.
The Memorandum of Understanding, signed by President Myung-Sun Lee on behalf of the KWDI, seeks to foster joint projects between the Foundation and the KWDI. Possible target countries include Myanmar and Cambodia.
Additionally, the Foundation visited the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with the objective of strengthening the cooperation between both institutions with a view to possible future projects jointly developed and implemented by KOICA, KWDI, and the Foundation.
