The cooperation forms part of the Association’s “Build Tomorrow” Project
The International Law Association (ILA) is celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2023. It has entrusted its French Branch with organising a series of events to commemorate this occasion. They are already making preparations within the framework of the “Build Tomorrow” Project (ADI/ILA 2023) including the drafting of a series of white papers.
The Foundation will support the work on the white papers and will offer its network of experts and academics to provide further input. It will also review the papers from a practical perspective, drawing from lessons learned and experiences gained while implementing the Foundation’s activities in project countries. The papers will be on topics within the Foundation’s expertise such as human rights, the law of the sea, freedom of the press and the media, business and human rights, and mass crimes and impunity.
The cooperation between the Foundation and the French Branch of the ILA is envisaged to continue for a period of 31 months from July 2021 to December 2023. The MoU was signed on 8 June 2021. The framework of this cooperation established between the two organisations presents an ideal opportunity to promote knowledge- and experience-sharing in areas of common interest and expertise.
