The Foundation signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Supreme Court of Mali

The Foundation recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Supreme Court of Mali. The cooperation established through this Memorandum seeks to strengthen the capacities of the Administrative Section of the Supreme Court through a series of workshops covering several aspects of public law such as the protection of fundamental rights by supreme courts, the role of supreme courts in the operation of individual indirect access procedures before constitutional courts, due process and electoral law.

On the basis of this Memorandum, a set of activities has already been scheduled to provide technical assistance to the Administrative Section of the Supreme Court of Mali beginning with a workshop scheduled to take place at the beginning of October on the topic of the protection of fundamental rights by supreme administrative courts. This workshop which will be the second of a series, will be followed by a roundtable reuniting a selection of judges of the Supreme Court of Mali with the judges of the Constitutional Court to foster cooperation between the two apex Courts. The roundtable is scheduled to take place at the end of November 2022.

The activities scheduled to take place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding form an integral part of the Max Planck Foundation project ‘Support to Transitional Process in Mali’, generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
