The final deliberative event of the 2024 project brought together recent graduates and young professionals from across the country.
On 5 December, the Max Planck Foundation and the Caucasus Institute convened participants of earlier regional consultations to discuss their perspectives on current policy and governance questions with high-ranking delegates of the government of Armenia.
After various deliberations and workshops held across Armenia throughout 2024, participants hailing from various regional backgrounds had their say at the concluding conference. The proceedings offered them an opportunity to problematise their own experiences in a broader forum, putting both critique and suggestions before representatives of Armenia’s key ministerial and educational institutions.
Groups representing the capital, Yerevan, the provinces of Syunik and Shirak, as well as a delegation of recently displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, addressed a wide range of issues afflicting the country’s younger generation. Critical reflections were levelled against current policies to address regional inequities, from employment opportunities to security and citizenship. The participants also presented concrete proposals for change to attending representatives of the ministries of finance and of internal affairs, as well as of the National Defence Research University and Yerevan State University.
The proceedings were part of the project Promoting Future Oriented Youth Dialogues, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
