Foundation delivers 124 law books to the library of the Somaliland Parliament.
On 22 February 2025, the Max Planck Foundation delivered 124 volumes of legal literature to the Somaliland Parliament. These books were procured and delivered by the Foundation with funding from the European Union under the project Legal Capacity Building and Advice for the Legislative Branch of Government in Somaliland.
The books were received at a handover ceremony presided over by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, his Excellency Hon. Sa’ed Mire Farah and attended by honourable members and support staff from both Houses of the Somaliland Parliament. The representative of the European Union Delegation to Somaliland, Mr Adnan Hagoog, also attended the ceremony.
The literature is aimed at contributing towards the objective of the project to improve the framework and general conditions for law-making in Somaliland. Thus, they are deemed to facilitate the work of the committees and their legal support staff when preparing and reviewing draft legislation.
The political leadership, members, and support staff of the Somaliland Parliament appreciated the contribution and expressed their wish for similar support for their work to continue in the future.
