Publication Launch Ceremony for Volume 27 of the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law to be Convened at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva

The Editorial Secretariat of the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law (UNYB) is pleased to announce the upcoming publication launch ceremony for Volume 27 of the Yearbook, which will be held on Friday, 23 May 2025, from 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm (CET) at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva.

This special event is being organised in coordination with the International Law Commission (ILC) and will take place during the ILC’s 76ᵗʰ session of work. The focus of the launch will be a ceremonial presentation of the first printed copies of Volume 27 to the ILC by the UNYB Editorial Secretariat. This will be followed by a brief Q&A session, during which members of the Commission will be invited to share forward-looking reflections on the ILC’s work and mandate. The UNYB Editorial Secretariat will attend the event in person and lead the presentation. There will be no virtual participation for the event. A summary of the proceedings will be published after its conclusion.

Released earlier this year Volume 27 of the Yearbook features a special thematic forum titled “Assessing the International Law Commission: the Past, Present and Future”. The volume brings together contributions from leading scholars and practitioners to reflect on the legacy, evolution, and continuing relevance of the ILC in international law.

Volume 27 of the UNYB is available online and in-print. To mark the occasion of the launch, all article contributions within the volume will be made open access on the Brill website for a limited period starting 23 May 2025.
