As European Pro Bono Week 2025 comes to a close, at the Foundation we reflect on the important contribution pro bono can make to the rule of law. Earlier this week we marked the occasion with a special webinar highlighting our work supporting legal professionals at risk.
At the webinar, the project leads and volunteers reflected on the achievements of this collaborative initiative between the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law, Eversheds Sutherland, Dechert LLP, Squire Patton Boggs, and Clyde & Co, and the meaningful impact made through collective pro bono efforts.
A project beneficiary shared a moving testimony on the difference this work makes in people’s lives, and we were honoured to hear from the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, who commended the project’s vital contribution to supporting Afghan legal professionals in need.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to champion pro bono work and access to justice globally.
