This cooperation aims at strengthening the legal capacities of the Bureau from a comparative perspective
On 8 October 2020, the Max Planck Foundation “virtually” signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The MoU was signed by Dr Fedaa al-Hmoud, President of the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion and the Head of Sub-Saharan Africa and Jordan Projects at the Foundation.
The MoU envisages a cooperation between the Foundation and the Bureau within the framework of the new project in Jordan “Strengthening Legislative Compliance and Constitutional Interpretation in Jordan”, that seeks to enhance the capacity of various legal and judicial institutions in Jordan with a holistic approach to two key processes: legal drafting and interpretation of laws. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Over the course of two years, the project will provide and deliver a series of workshops for legal advisors and legal drafters at the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion. The workshops with the Bureau will focus on training participants on technical aspects of legislative drafting in the context of the principles of the rule of law and constitutional law as well as the applicable international law.
