On 1 February 2023, the Foundation started a new project in Sri Lanka, entitled Strengthening the Rule of Law and Democratic Principles in Sri Lanka in Times of Crisis.
In the context of Sri Lanka’s current economic and social crises, the Foundation aims to support the capacities and resilience of key stakeholders, including the judiciary, Parliament, lawyers and the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka to respond to and manage issues arising from the current crises and prevent their recurrence, in accordance with domestic legal obligations and international law.
The project, which builds on the Foundation’s previous projects with justice sector actors, is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and will run until the end of July 2024.
