Lawyers and NGO representatives attended a workshop on human rights law in the Kyrgyz capital to prepare their own training programmes.
From 3 to 5 October 2023, the Max Planck Foundation, in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and its Kyrgyz partners BIOM and ALGA, hosted a preparatory training and platform for discussion for legal experts and human rights promoters in Kyrgyzstan.
Each day of the workshop included both reviews of the applicable law and practice-oriented legal skills training with a view to the implementation of an upcoming series of activities across the various regions of Kyrgyzstan.
From the theoretical underpinnings of international and domestic Kyrgyz human rights law to the discussion of current cases and protective and remedial mechanisms, the sessions covered a wide spectrum of relevant issues, each addressed specifically through the prism of human rights education.
The workshop was part of the project ‘Monitoring for Justice – Strengthening Civil Society in Promoting Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan‘, generously supported by the European Union.
