The Foundation launches the Legal Education And Research Network (LEARN)

LEARN is an online platform built to advance communication, cooperation and capacity building with partners

The Foundation has launched the Legal Education And Research Network (LEARN) to provide a digital platform facilitating tailor-made capacity building activities for partners. LEARN also allows the Foundation to strengthen collaborative efforts with partners.

LEARN is a service provided to the Foundation’s partner organisations in its project countries. It is an interactive e-learning tool offering online workshops to registered participants combining interaction with the Foundation’s Research Staff, pre-recorded presentations, podcasts, video conferences, group exercises, forum discussions and quizzes.

The first event organised by the Foundation in cooperation with its partner, the Bar Council of the Maldives, is an online workshop series on Professional Ethics of Lawyers, Fair Trial Rights and Strategic Litigation. It runs for 10 working days and explores the topics in three separate courses, each with daily modules. Participants receive certificates on completion of each course. The new workshop series comes under the framework of the project “Strengthening the Rule of Law in the Maldives” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Further courses are planned for partners in, inter alia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Additionally, in the future the platform can be used for collaborative research between the Foundation’s staff and its network partners.

The Foundation will continue to develop the platform with its partners and stakeholders around the globe. When the COVID-19 situation allows, in-country trainings will continue, and the Foundation will then use this platform with a blended learning approach to complement face-to-face activities.
