The Max Planck Foundation’s meetings laid the groundwork for future cooperation with the state of Tajikistan.
From 15 to 19 May 2023, Foundation staff spoke with representatives of Tajik agencies responsible for or otherwise concerned with the prosecution, rehabilitation, and reintegration of returning foreign fighters and their families.
These meetings provided a forum for exchange of information between Foundation staff and state officials on concrete challenges that may arise within this multi-faceted legal context.
The relationships formed during these meetings will provide a springboard for future consultations and cooperation, as well as the provision of specialised technical legal support.
The meetings were part of the project Prosecution, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration of Returning Foreign Fighters and their Families , funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
